w2 Tectonics
Week 2 is about the different types of boundaries and how close our country is to them. There are three different kinds of boundaries Divergent, Convergent and Transform (Keller 36). Divergent where plates move away from each other. Convergent plates occur when the plates move toward each other. Lastly Transform plates move past each other for example when one plates moves up and the other one moves down.
Nicaragua has Convergent boundaries. The Pacific Plate is sub ducting under the Nicaragua sea plate. Nicaragua is prone to a lot of natural disasters like volcanic activity, hurricanes, severe storms and flooding due to its location around the Ring of Fire. The ring of fire is an active location where a lot of earthquakes and volcanoes occur because of the plates subduction.
